Daylight Saving Time 2007 Changes

On August 8th, 2005 President Bush signed into law The First National Energy Plan. The President’s National Energy Plan will encourage energy efficiency and conservation by extending Daylight Savings Time by approximately four weeks. The changes take effect in 2007.

DST commonly begins on the first Sunday in April, and ends on the last Sunday in October. However, beginning in 2007, the United States will be observing DST from the second Sunday in March (March 11, 2007) until the first Sunday in November (November 4, 2007). If no energy savings can be shown from the extension after the U.S. Department of Energy completes a study on the impact of the change, Congress may revert back to the schedule set in 1986 under Section 110 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Your software (Genesis Pro, TA100 Pro, TA50 Pro) version or hardware (TA520/530 rev 4.46 and lower, TA620 rev5) may not be compliant with the new DST change. Click the appropriate image for your program at right for instructions on identifying your program version and measures to take for upgrading. TA620 rev6 and HandPunch series clocks receive their daylight saving time program  from the software  therefore rely on the software being compliant.  This change is also dependent upon your Microsoft Windows Operating System being up-to-date and compliant (See below for more information).

Note:
TA620 rev6 and HandPunch series clocks receive DST programming from software, and therefore require the software to be DST compliant.

For Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Microsoft will release a single global time zone update which will include changes for the United States DST change. Windows Vista will have these changes included in the release-to-market version of the operating system. Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 will require the update. Windows XP SP1 and older operating system versions have passed their end of support dates and will not be receiving the update. Windows 2000, ME, 98 and 85 have passed the end of mainstream support and will not be receiving an update. Versions of Windows that are not currently supported can be manually updated using the "tzedit.exe" utility or other techniques documented in Knowledge Base article 914387.

Other clocks & Daylight Saving Time
Many of the Amano Cincinnati time clocks we sell and have sold over the years automatically change for daylight savings, but will still need reprogramming for the new dates starting in 2007.
